In August 1962 two Sowjet rockets took of towards space. The Vostok-3 was comanded by Andrijan Grigorjewitsch Nikolajew and the Vostok-4 with Pawel Romanowitsch Popowitsch as it's commander. The two flights were used in order to test flight formations but also to find out whether communication in space was possible with those times technologies. At a distance of 75 miles they successfully made contact in space to each other thus, proving a whole sting of calculations and theories. Both Nikolajew and Popowitsch were equipped with Sturmanskie watches during their mission. The Pioneers of Space Collection is dedicated to these two cosmonats and their achievements.
